Waterville On June 5th, 2006 Richard E. Ainsworth, 76, went to meet his Savior the Lord Jesus Christ at MaineGeneral Med. Ctr. Thayer Unit in Waterville. He was born July 2, 1929 in Norwich, CT. the son of Byron S. and Florence Carith Ainsworth. Dick graduated from the Windsor High and Trade School in Windsor, Ct. He was employed for many years as a licensed nurse working in the prison system for the state of Conn. mostly at Wethersfield State Prison, also employed by the state of Mass. in that prison system in that medical dept. especially as a night supervisor at Mass. Correctional Institute in Norfolk, MA. He was owner of Dick's Vacuum Shop on Main St. in Waterville. He has spent much of his life in the study of the Holy Scriptures. He has functioned as a lay preacher and singer at many church gatherings, also traveled as a Lay Evangelist with a gospel music group. His interest in the many mysteries of God's great love and salvation to man has always been a motivating factor in his life. He was a published author of christian poetry books. He once was quoted as saying ''At the touch of God's love everyone becomes a poet.'' He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Byron ''Bud'' Ainsworth. He leaves his dear beloved wife, Peggy Childs Ainsworth of Waterville; three children, Richard Ainsworth Jr. and wife, Chris of Washington State, Douglas W. Ainsworth and wife Shirley of Embden and Linda Cusack and husband Patrick of Turner Falls, MA.; a nephew, Kenneth Ainsworth of Waterville; four step-sons, Lewis Lee of Winslow, David Pooler of Calif., Rick Pooler of Augusta, and Steve Benedetti ''Steve B.'' of Canaan; two step-daughters, Rona Brown of Gardiner and Lisa Trask of Hudson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the New Beginnings Church, 392 Upper Main St., Waterville. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the church with Rev. Alan Imes officiating. Committal prayers and burial will follow in Chadwick Hill Cemetery, Rt. 32, So. China across from Erskine Academy.
