Real O. Gignac, 86, of Waterville passed away peacefully Sept. 20, 2011 after a brief illness. He was born in St. Godfrey, Canada on Dec. 8, 1924 the son of David and Rachel Loisel Gignac. Real served his country in WW II in the Air Force. After his discharge, he married the love of his life, Doris Nadeau. Real was employed by Huhtamaki as manager of the paint dept. for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW and a communicant of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in Waterville. He enjoyed playing pool, beano, and cards. He was always on hand to watch and cheer his home team, the Winslow Black Raiders. His quick smile and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Real is survived by a son, David J. Gignac and wife Lisa C. of Gulf Breeze, FL; three sisters, Anita Albert of Windsor, Bertha Duguay of Winslow and Jacqueline Arbour of Augusta; two grandchildren, Joel M. and Sean D. Gignac of FL.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special friends, Larry and Lana Boucher of Waterville and Larry and Anne-Marie Thibodeau of Winslow. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Doris; and a brother, Jule-Arthur. A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, Tues., Sept. 27, 2011 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Reals memory to the charity of your choice.
