Waterville Olivette M. Carter, 83, of College Ave., passed away July 28, 2007 at Lakewood Manor of an unexpected illness. She was born Dec. 22, 1923 in Waterville, the daughter of Joseph and Lea Rossignol Veilleux . She attended Waterville schools and then helped raise her younger siblings. Olivette married Lawrence Carter on Thanksgiving Day 1954. They resided in Winslow where they raised their three children. She enjoyed camping with her family, especially in Belgrade Lakes where she made many friends. Her favorite pasttime was playing beano in which she was very lucky. She also enjoyed socializing and playing cards with her friends and daily lunches at the Muskie Center. A devout Catholic, Olivette was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow. She attended Mass daily until her recent illness. Olivette was predeceased by her husband, Larry in 1998; her parents; brothers, Gerard and Leo Paul; and sisters, Cecile and Theresa. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Houston and husband Dana of Topsham; son, Michael Carter and wife Susan of Scarborough; daughter, Renee Barthleman and husband William of So. Portland; one brother, Jerome; three sisters, Lorette, Gertrude and Bernadette; five grandchildren, Melanie, Emily, Danny, Jacob, and Carter; many nieces and nephews and a loving companion for the past two years, Ovila Labreck of Winslow. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Sisters Servants of the Blessed Sacrament, 101 Silver St., Waterville, ME 04901 or to Muskie Center, 38 Gold St., Waterville, ME 04901 Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Lakewood Manor and Outreach Hospice for their care and guidance during this difficult time. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wed., Aug. 1, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Church, 47 Monument St., Winslow. Arrangements are with the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.
