Myron A. Evans 76 passed away peacefully at his home on July 17, 2012 surrounded by loved ones, as he wished. Myron was born in Kingfield, Maine on October 29, 1935 the son of Edward Evans and Amy Parsons. He attended school in Oakland, Maine. Myron married the love of his life, Marie Tingley in 1959. In 1966, they moved into the home Myron built in Winslow, where they lived out their lives. Myron began his work career in the saw mill. He enjoyed working with wood and continued this work for two decades at Duratherm Windows, as well as in his home workshop all throughout his life. He also worked for and retired from the Town of Winslow. But his heart and soul were in his own farm, where he raised generations of animals, produced bountiful vegetable gardens and spent countless years and endless days on his tractor, "bringing in the hay." Myron was recognized and honored by St. John's School for his outstanding contributions and volunteerism to his church and community. All of us who observed him over the years marveled at the unwavering love and meticulous care he gave his beloved wife Marie. Myron will be remembered as the "Pillar of his Community." He offered a kind word and a helping hand wherever he went and to whomever he met. He was a refuge to many youth, spanning several decades. He was kind and compassionate, willing to listen, help, and rescue those in need; the four-legged and two-legged alike. Myron was generous with his time, tools, logic and love. He knew what it meant to be a friend, a neighbor, a mentor, a 'dad' and a 'grandpa' though he never fathered children of his own. To know him, was to love him. He is survived by his brother-in-laws, George Tingley and wife Ethel of Maryland and Raymond Tingley of Winslow. Sisters-in-laws, Shirley Williams of Winslow, Yvonne Pelletier of Connecticut, Alice Couture and husband Bernard of Clinton, and Cecile Willette of Winslow and many beloved nieces and nephews. In honor of Myron, please join us for a tractor procession from Myron's home to Libby's Store on Friday July 20th at 9 a.m., prior to the funeral service at St. John the Baptist Church Monument Street in Winslow at 11 a.m. Following the service, there will be committal prayers and burial at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery Grove Street in Waterville. with a luncheon after at the Waterville Lodge of Elks 76 Industrial Road in Waterville.
