John H. Tardiff 81 died at his residence on Wednesday March 28, 2012 with his family by his side. He was born in Waterville, Maine on October 27, 1930 the son of William and Ora Bouchard Tardiff. He was formerly employed as a paper maker for many years at Scott Paper Company in Winslow, Maine. He was well known as a local arbitrator and was a Dedimus Justice and Notary for state of Maine Kennebec County. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and member of the Fourth Degree Assembly and was a former Faithful Navigator and Treasurer. He was also a former President of the Home Association of the Knights of Columbus of Waterville. He enjoyed traveling with family in his motor home, Hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing and taking long walks in the woods. He loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in outdoor activities. He is survived by his wife BernicePooler Tardiff. His daughter Bonnie Marie Wood of Fairfield Center, 2 brothers: Jimmy and Richard Tardiff both of Waterville and 2 sisters:Shirley Buzzell of Watrerville and Sharon Marion of Pennsylvania. Also by 2 grandchildren: John and Michelle Wood and 6 great-grandchildren: Dillon, Travis , Lesley and Cassandra Wood and Devan and Elisa LaBrie. Also by his beloved nephew: Terry Pooler and niece: Theresa Johnson. And many other nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Maine General in Augusta and HealthReach Hospice of Waterville. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home 10 Elm Street Waterville. A mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Notre Dame Church 112 Silver Street in Waterville. Burial will take place later this spring in Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade, time and date to be announced later. Donations in his memory can be made to the Belgrade Fire and Rescue Department and can be left at the funeral home.
