WINSLOW -- Joan L. Roy, formerly of 17 Helen St., Winslow, passed away April 10, 2008, at Farmington Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. Joan was born July 1, 1934, in Lincoln, the daughter of Byron and Leona Violette Currier. On Feb. 7, 1953, she married Honore J. Roy who predeceased her Nov. 26, 1987. She also was predeceased by her parents, and a grandson, Ryan Roy Franchetti. From 1972 to 1987 Joan was employed at Cottle's running the coffee shop with her friend Gloria. Jo and Glo were quite a team and were loved by all their customers. Since her move one year ago, she was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farmington. She was adamant about coming home to her ''favorite'' church -- St. John the Baptist Church where she was a member for 42 years. She enjoyed life to the fullest. Her biggest love in life was spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Shelley and her husband, Stephen Franchetti, of Jay, Diane and her husband, William Keelan, of Portland, Michelle and her companion, Charlie Dodge, of Buckfield, Michael and his wife, Kristin Nisoff Roy, of Peru, N.Y. She was the proud grandmother of Derek Franchetti, Amanda and Justin Dodge, Katharine and Jonathan Roy. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Violette and Arthur Jones of Milo, Lorraine and David Chase of Enfield, Sheldon and Jean Currier of Lincoln, Wayne Currier of Glenburn, and Roger and Sandy Currier of Bangor; her sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Greg Grehawick of Virginia and brother Richard Roy of England; and many nieces and nephews who held special places in her heart. She is loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Friends may visit from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 14, at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, at St. John the Baptist Church, 47 Monument St., Winslow.
