Winslow-- Armand L. Caron, known to many as "AC", died peacefully Sat., Feb. 14, 2015 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He was 82. He was born in Portland, Apr. 12, 1932, the son of Ovide and Adele Pinette Caron. He was educated in Westbrook schools and graduated from Westbrook High School class of 1951. Armand was employed at Central Maine Power Company for 36 years, retiring in 1991 as Northern division Supervisor of Heating and Lighting. He was also a DJ for many years at former radio station WTVL in Waterville where he was known on air as "OL AC". After retirement, he spent many years playing golf and employed as a ranger at Natanis Golf Club, a job he truly loved as it fit his outgoing personality. Armand was chairman on the Seton Village Board. He was a member of the Waterville Lodge of Elks for 29 years and served as an organist there for 20 years. He was a police officer in Scarborough for a time. He was a TV cameraman for WCSH -TV during the Dave Aster Show. Armand was a gifted musician, having learned the piano as a child, and he played with many local bands through the years, often playing the drums in addition to keyboard. AC had a larger than life personality. His stories, jokes and amazing love of life will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Conrad Caron and sister-in-law MaryAnn Caron both of Portland; and his beloved daughter Lynn Caron. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Beverly A. Roma Caron of Winslow; daughter, Lisa Bartell and husband Thomas of Windham; son, Craig and wife Cheryl of Ill.; son, Eric and wife Jean of Waterville; two grandsons, Chad and Riley Caron; four granddaughters, Ashley, Megan, Rachel and Katey Caron; two great-grandsons, Xander and Wyatt; and several nieces and nephews. The family would be remiss if we did not thank special family friend, Fred Preo, who visited AC nearly every day. Their "debates" were legendary and his presence added purpose, color and support to AC's daily life. Visiting hours will be held from 2 - 4 P.M. Sat. Feb. 28, 2015 at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St. , Waterville. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
