Tobey Russell Hockridge Obituary (1982 - 2015)

China, Maine ---Captain Tobey Russell Hockridge, 33, died Oct. 31, 2015 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on March 28 1982 in Waterville, Maine to Russell and Cindy Hockridge. Tobey grew up in China and attended China Elementary and Middle School and was a graduate of Winslow High School, Class of 2000, where he was Captain of the Football Team . During time in high school and the Air Force he was a power lifter. CPT Hockridge entered military service through the United States Air Force Academy on 02 June 2004. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Military History. He was a graduate of: the Expeditionary Communications Officer Training Course, Aerospace Basic, Combatives Level I and II, Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Course, Infantry Maneuver Captain's Career Course, Special Operations Detachment Officer Qualification Course, High Risk SERE and the Special Operations Jumpmaster Course. After commissioning with the United States Air Force, Tobey Hockridge served as Flight Commander for Global Reach Communications, 43d Communications Squadron, 43d Mission Support Group at Pope AFB; Air Communication Planner with JSOC; Deputy Director of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence, JSOC, at Ft. Bragg; Air Component Command J6 with the JTF in support of OIF and OEF, Manas, Kyrgyzstan; Commander of ODA 0222 with Bravo Company, 2nd Bn, 10th SFG A, in Ft Carson; Commander of ODA 0225, 2nd Bn, 10th SFG A. While in 2nd Battalion CPT Hockridge conducted training with the Dutch and Belgian Commandos, led his team during multiple UW exercises, and served in Germany as the Liaison Officer for10th SFG A and SOC-Africa. January of 2015, CPT Hockridge transitioned from active duty to the Colorado National Guard. CPT Hockridge was then selected as the Commander of HSC, 5th Bn, 19th SFG A in Watkins, Colorado and additionally served as the Battalion S-1 for 5/19. Tobey was a loving person with a very contagious smile. He enjoyed rock climbing, ice climbing and riding his motorcycle. Family was very important to him. He is survived by many loved ones and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M., Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument St., Winslow. Military Honors will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta at 12:00 P.M. noontime on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 at the Chapel with interment in the Niche Wall.
