Sandra L. Vlodek Obituary (1952 - 2007)

SANDRA VLODEK 1952-1997 North Vassalboro Sandy Lou Vlodek, 55, was called to Heaven Wednesday December 5, 2007 due to complications of a long illness. She was born January 14, 1952 in Augusta Maine. She attended the Augusta school system and enjoyed dance and fashion. After graduating from Cony High School in 1970; she attended the School of Fashion Design in Boston, Massachusetts and later Thomas College in Waterville Maine with a focus on fashion and retail. Sandy was a gifted dancer. She met her beloved husband Ken at a dance hall in Winslow Maine in the summer of 1969. They were married in 1973 . Sandy gave birth to their only child Jody who was the light of her life. The family made their home in North Vassalboro Maine and enjoyed for many years their home in Bayside. She loved the quaint Victorian cottages and the warm friendships of the closely knit community. Owners of the Yardgoods Center in Waterville Maine,Sandy enjoyed sharing her love of needlework and taught clases in crewel and needlepoint. She was a knowledgeable and well respected antiques dealer specializing in early needlework samplers, quilts and folk art. She later began to collect vintage clothing and loved to see some of the pieces she sold used in movies including Woody Allen films. She loved her family dearly and devoted herself to them. She was a selfless daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband of thirty four years Ken; best friend and daughter Jody; son-in-law Fredric Berren; two grandchildren, Colby age 5 and Brooke age 2. Parents, Shirley and Millicent Foster of Augusta; sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Jeff Tardiff of Windsor; brother and sister -in-law Mark and Cathy Foster of Northboro, Massachussetts; Uncle and Aunt Paul and Mary Foster of Vero Beach, Fl.; Uncle and Aunt Thomas and Joyce Baddeley of Boynton Beach , Fl.; six cousins, nephews and nieces . In-laws Joyce and Scott Atkins of Oakland and mother-in-law Beatrice Vlodek of Waterville. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Green Street Methodist Church in Augusta. All payers of respect are welcome.
