Paul Richmond True, Jr. Obituary (1947 - 2009)

Paul Richmond True,Jr. 62 passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Friday November 20, 2009. He was born October 30, 1947 in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine the son of Paul R. True,Sr. and Anne Bonsey Dow. He attended and graduated from Cony High School in 1967. He then enlisted into the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Forrester from 1967 to 1971. He met his wife, Alice Martin as a pen pal on December 6, 1968 and were married November 15, 1969. Paul was also known to others as Killer, Rick, Tank, Grampa and Daddy. He became a father on July 20, 1972 to a baby girl, Doris Anne True, from then she was always his ''little pumpkin''. Soon after, on July 2, 1973, his son Paul R. True,III was born, his legacy would live on through the lives of his children. He was employed as a machine tender on the #2 paper machine at Scott Paper Company in Winslow until they closed. He also worked at the Hutamaki Paper Company in Fairfield for a short time. To those who knew him from the Scott Paper Bowling League, to the United Bikers of Maine Toy Run, he always was smiling. He was a very proud member of A.A., often speaking at meetings, helping someone out or giving them a shoulder. He was there when you needed him. His greatest joy was his family and friends, especially his three grandchildren, Caleb, Jared and Samantha. Each one had a special bond with their grandfather. He loved them and it showed. You could find him at a football game, basketball game, softball and baseball games. He was a very proud grampa. In 2008, he was best man at his son's wedding. This was a highlight in his life. He spent three weeks down in Carlsbad, New Mexico with his son and daughter-in-law Cassie and was looking forward to another trip. Paul was predeceased by his father, Paul R. True,Sr. and step-father, Wayne Dow and his best friend Charles Hodgdon. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Alice M. Martin True, a daughter Doris Anne Champagne and her companion James Dennis of Benton,Me. a son, Paul R. True,III and his wife Cassie of Carlsbad, New Mexico; his three grandchildren, Caleb, Jared and Samantha Champagne; his mother, Anne Dow of Augusta, Me., two sisters, Sandy Chamberlain and her husband Al of Westfield, Mass. and Patricia Banks and husband Steve of Augusta; many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws nieces and ephews who he loved with all his heart. May his memory live on. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Gallant Funeral Home 10 Elm Street Waterville, Maine. A mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday at Notre Dame Church 112 Silver Street Waterville, Maine. Committal prayers with military honors and burial will be in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta,Maine.
