Norman Louis Pellerin Obituary (1926 - 2011)

Waterville Norman L. Pellerin, 84, of Waterville and Boston, MA., died Thurs., Apr. 28, 2011 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He was born in Waterville, Aug. 25, 1926, the son of Joseph P. and Exelia M. Veilleux Pellerin. He was a graduate of Waterville High School and of the Pittsburg School of Art in Pittsburg, PA. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Mr. Pellerin was a graphic artist and owner for over 10 years of NorMarc Graphics in Boston, MA. He also worked for many years for the Benjamin Franklin Smith Printing Company of Boston. Mr. Pellerin was passionate about the arts and music. He served on the Board of Directors for the Boston Ballet and the Boston Metropolitan Opera and was very involved with the Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He was an active volunteer and did much charitable work. He was active with the AIDS Action Committee, the AIDS Research Foundation, and the Ray Tye Medical Aid Foundation in Boston. In addition, Norman was a long time supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Research Center, Doctors Without Borders and various American Veterans causes especially wounded and disabled veterans. He was predeceased by his parents; his partner and best friend for 45 years, Mark Skiffington; a brother, Sylvio Pellerin; three sisters, Carmel Vellali, Yvette Crosby and Blanche Pellerin. He is survived by two nieces, Sherry Long and husband Dan of Pembroke, MA. and Lisa Vellali of Boca Raton, FL.; two nephews, Victor Vellali and wife Lauren of Medfield, MA. and Mike Pellerin and wife Peggy of Winlsow; and by several grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Chrissy and Matt Long; Carl Vellali; Erika and Lori Pellerin; many cousins in the Waterville area; special friends, Eileen Tye of Cambridge, MA., Patricia Petrocelli of Boston, MA. Mario and Nancy Arena of Pittsford, N.Y. All of Norman's relatives and friends loved him dearly. The family wishes to express it's gratitude to the staffs of the Eastern Maine Medical Center, Inland Hospital, and Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and professionalism during Norman's last days. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Sat. May 7, 2011 at St. Francis de Sales Church, 52 Elm St., Waterville. Committal prayers with Military Honors and burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78, Grove St., Waterville. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either St Jude Children's Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to The Ray Tye Medical Aid Foundation, P.O.
