Lillian V. Lever Obituary (1928 - 2013)

Lillian Mathieu Lever of Waterville, 84 years young, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 after a battle with cancer, in the presence of her loving family. She was born August 26, 1928 in Waterville, the daughter of Wilfred and Mary O'Brien Mathieu. She attended Winslow schools, graduating in 1947. Lillian spent her early years living and working in Boston. She returned to Winslow to raise her daughter. She later moved to Seton Village, Waterville, where she resided for nearly 30 years until her death. She was often seen at local craft fairs where she displayed doll clothes, fabric books for children and an assortment of handmade crafts. She taught a variety of craft classes at the Senior Spectrum Muskie Center in Waterville. She was also a member of the Waterville Quilt Club. Over the years she donated many of her handmade items to hospitals such as blankets for HIV babies and hats for cancer patients. Her giving nature set a wonderful example for all. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Mary O'Brien Mathieu and niece Teresa Mathieu. Lillian is survived by her daughter Susan Violette and her husband Steve of Gulf Breeze, Florida and two grandchildren Catlin Mae and Rebecca Joy. She is also survived by her seven siblings Connie Fedorovich and her husband John of Winslow, Maine; Roland and his wife Carol of Merced, California; Stanley and his wife Janice of Winslow; Jean Cassidy and her husband Daniel of Winslow; Robert of New Castle, Pennsylvania; Diane McGowan her husband Timothy of Albertville, Alabama; Kathleen Turlo and her husband, John of North Windham, Maine and many loving nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, July 15, at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville.
