Obituary for Jeannine L. Morisette

WATERVILLE – Jeannine L. Morisette, 89, died peacefully on Saturday, Dec 29, 2018, at Mount St. Joseph in Waterville, where she had resided for over 10 years. Jeannine was born June 6, 1929 at her childhood home in Winslow, the daughter of Alfred and Mabel Carter.
Jeannine married Donald Morisette (predeceased in 2004) on June 23, 1951, together building a house in Winslow on West Baker Street, where they proudly raised their three children.
She was a very talented artist, spending many years attending local art festivals where she displayed her work (and winning many awards), as well as teaching art classes both from her home as well as through local adult education. She considered herself a jack-of-all-trades, spending countless hours building and maintaining flower rock gardens, religious grottos, sewing clothes and dance costumes, among a variety of other activities. She enjoyed camping, especially spending over 20 summers at the family camp on Webber Pond which she built with her husband, reminiscing about that time until her final days.
She was predeceased by one sister and six brothers.
Jeannine is survived by daughter Anne Meader of Waterville; son, Michael Morisette and his wife Barbara of Augusta, Georgia, son, Mark Morisette and his wife Terry of Oakland; six grand-children: Jonathan Meader and wife Christine; Ellie Hall and husband Joshua; Chad Morisette; Gillian, Kaleb and Ana Morisette as well as three great grand-children: Jacob, Brayden and Zachary Meader. She is also survived by sister, Cecile Trapnell of Winslow; brother, Roland Carter and his wife Anna of Winslow; and brother, Patrick Carter of Waterville.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 am on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 116 Silver Street, Waterville. A burial at St. Francis cemetery will take place at a later time. Arrangements are under the care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville. An online guestbook may be signed, condolences and memories shared at Donations in her memory: May be made to St. John Regional Catholic School, 15 South Garand Street, Winslow, Maine 04901
