Francis Albert King Obituary (1927 - 2015)

Waterville - Francis "Frank" A. King died Feb. 19, 2015 at Oak Grove Center in Waterville. He was born June 24, 1927 in Waterville the son of Albert and Mabel Poulin King. Frank served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater from 1945 to 1946 on the minesweeper USS YMS - 197. He graduated from Coburn Classical Institute in 1947. He attended the University of Maine in Orono class of 1951 and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity while there. Frank married Trudy Cook on Jan. 30, 1954 at St. Paul's Church in Milo, Maine. They had two daughters, Andrea and Leslie. He worked at C.F. Hathaway Shirt Co. in Waterville for 40 years, retiring in 1990 as Director of Purchasing. Frank was an avid golfer his whole life and was a member of the Waterville Country Club for many years. Frank and Trudy went on more than 30 cruises to the Caribbean Island and Bermuda. He was very proud of his two grandsons, Troy and Kyle Irvine and attended most of their high school and college track meets. Frank was predeceased by his parents; wife, Trudy; sister, Jeannine Viens; brother-in-law, Aldo Nardi; and son-in-law, David Whyte. He is survived by his two daughters, Andrea Whyte and significant other, Brad Sherwood of Waterville and Leslie Pelletier and husband Mark of Winslow; sister, Marcelle Nardi of Waterville; brother-in-law, John Viens of Augusta; two grandsons, Troy Irvine and Kyle Irvine and fianc' Kelly O'Halloran of Waterville; and by several nieces and nephews. Our deepest thanks and gratitude go out to the staff at the Oak Grove Center for the superb care and caring they gave to Frank during his time there. Also to his niece, Julie Nardi for all the love and treats you gave him, he definitely enjoyed them all. A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 9 A.M. Sat., Feb. 28, 2015 at Colby College's Lorimer Chapel with Rev. Paul Marquis officiating. Burial will be in April at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
