Eduarda Marie Dacey Obituary (1947 - 2017)

Waterville, Maine- Eduarda Marie Dacey, 69, of Waterville, Maine, passed away peacefully at her home on September 11, 2017 with family at her side. Born on the Azorean island of Sao Miguel, Portugal on October 17, 1947, her parents Arthur DaCosta Senra and Marie Theresa (Martin) Senra moved the family to Pawtucket, Rhode Island in 1956. Eduarda, known as Eddie, graduated from West High School in Pawtucket, Class of 1967. She married Dennis James Dacey in 1969 and the couple lived in Rhode Island until moving to Embden, Maine in 1984. She worked for MSAD #74 for over 24 years, 20 of which she spent as school secretary at Solon Elementary School. Retiring in 2014, Eddie's feistiness, warmth, and compassion made her a natural child advocate, seeking to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all children. She was a member of St. Peters Alter Guild for over 30 years at St. Peters Catholic Church in Bingham, Maine, where she loved working in the community with her sister, Izzy (Nilan). For those that know and love Eddie, we will dearly miss and fondly remember the little things. The fanatical Red Sox lover who never missed a game - either by radio, on television, or in person - and whose small stature belied the most enthusiastic cheering in the room. A tirelessly fashionable woman, who was obsessed with jewelry and loved a good deal. The joy she took in making sweets; her delicious and colorful roster of chocolate fudges, barks, and cordials. The beautiful quilts and blankets she wove. Her desire to travel, spending time with family and friends. Her appreciation for detail and beauty in all things. Long walks and picking wildflowers. She was predeceased her husband, Dennis Dacey, in 2003 and her parents. Eduarda is survived by her daughter, Kendra Dacey, and grandson, Calvin Dacey-McQueen. She is also survived by her siblings; James Senra of South Attleboro, MA, Antonio Senra of Cumberland, RI, Isolina Nilan of Waterville, and Laura Pacheco of East Providence, RI as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Hospice for the wonderful care provided through the last months of Eddie's battle with cancer.
