Beatrice L. Poulin Obituary (1923 - 2011)

Winslow, Maine Beatrice L. Poulin 88, passed away January 29, 2011 surrounded by her family at MaineGeneral Medical Center-Thayer Campus in Waterville after a brief illness. She was born on January 27, 1923 in Waterville,Maine one of five children born to the late Patrick and Gladys Corson Larracey. Beatrice married Laurier ''Larry'' Poulin on November 22, 1945 and they enjoyed many years together until his passing on April 22, 2005. She was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Waterville High School. Beatrice was employed for 18 years at Scott Paper Co. in the Quality Control Laboratory and Technical Control Office. She went back to work several years later for six years as a Teacher's Aide in the Waterville School Dept. Beatrice was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, a member of the John McPherson Chapter 1 Auxilliary of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the McCrillis-Rousseau Post #8835 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxilliary. She especially enjoyed spending her summers at her camp on the East Jamaica Shores of Great Pond. In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing for white perch. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading, was a Boston Red Sox fan, loved animals, bird watching, listening to country music and going to country music shows. She loved to travel and took trips with her husband and oldest son, Michael to Hawaii, England, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Monacco, Alaska and the Caribbean, Beatrice also traveled to many of the Provinces of her father's homeland in Canada and many historic places in the United States. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Laurier of 59 years; a daughter Deborah Melanie; three brothers and their spouses: John Larracey and wife Dorothy, Howard Larracey and wife Helmi and Robert Larracey and wife Barbara. A sister: Katherine Bugbee and husband Newall; three nephews, Charles Larracey,Ph.D., Anthony Larracey and Gary Bugbee; two nieces, Barbara Derose and Darlene Blucher, Ph.D. Survivors include two sons: Michael Poulin of Lisbon and Kevin Poulin and wife Jennifer of China; a daughter Lucinda Drechsler and husband Karl of Wilton; two grandsons, Jesse and wife Amy and Riley Poulin of China; a stepgrandson, Derek of Hope; a very dear sister-in-law, Theresa Morissette of Winslow; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
