Waterville Ann Thomas, age 87, of Seton Village in Waterville passed away Tues. July 7, 2009 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville following a short illness. Ann was born Oct. 2, 1921 in Waterville to Habouba and Maroon Thomas. She lived at King Court and at the family homestead on 220 Main St.. Ann remained single all her life, enjoyed her family and had a passion for reading. She was educated in Waterville schools and worked for many years retiring from the Diamond Match Company in Oakland. She was a lifetime member of Saint Joseph Parish in this city. One of eleven brothers and sisters, she was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Julia Thomas, Mary and husband Charles Noel, Francis Joseph, Marie and husband Joseph Smus; brothers, Thomas ''Tommy'', Joseph and Lewis. She is survived by her brothers, Wayne and Charlotte Thomas of Bradenton, Florida, Bernard and Patricia Thomas and John Thomas of all of Waterville; a brother-in-law, William Joseph of Fairfield; a sister-in-law, Shirley Thomas of Winslow as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Fri., July 10, 2009 at the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville with a Wake Service at 3 p.m. The Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Sat. July 11, 2009 at St. Joseph Maronite Catholic Church, Front St., Waterville. Interment will be in the family plot at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove St., Waterville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Building Fund, 3 Appleton St., Waterville, ME 04901 in her honor.
