Amelia M. Hunter Obituary (1913 - 2006)

Fairfield, Maine Amelia Huard Hunter 92 passed away January 27, 2006 at the home of her daughter, Sandra Tessier follwing an illness of several months. She was born on November 18, 1913 in Winslow, Maine the daughter of Joseph Huard and Zoe Lizzie Duguay Huard Hunter. Amelia lived all her life in the Winslow-Waterville area. She worked from an early age in the various cotton and woolen mills of Central Maine. However, she spent the majority of her work time as a spinner in the now closed Wyandotte Woolen Mill of Waterville. She especially enjoyed harness racing in her younger years. After her retirement, she became involved in the buying and selling of antiques for many years. In her later years, she was seldom seen without a crochet hook in hand and frequently created her own patterns. Amelia was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Milan Hunter, who passed away in 1969. Also predeceasing her was her brother, Wilfred Huard as well as his wife Annie of Winslow and three grandchildren: Candace Pendexter Romero of Sacramento,California, Stephen Mathieu of Augusta and Donald Carroll,Jr. of Cary, North Carolina. She will be greatly missed by her family consisting of her brother: Omer Huard and his wife Irene of Winslow; her three daughters Dolores Mathieu and husband Darrell Wright of Oceano, California; Joan Carroll of Cary, North Carolina and Sandra Tessier and husband Paul of Rockwood. Also surviving her are eight grandchildren; Karen Cusworth, Pamela Carlson and Dana Mathieu all of California, Cynthia Godwin and husband David of Raleigh,N.C.; Michelle Hancock and husband Michael of Decatur,Alabama, Lisa Marrache and husband Ronnie of Waterville,Me. ; Remi Tessier and wife Rhonda of Valdosta,Georgia and Kevin Tessier of Fairfield,Me. Amelia also had 21 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Monday January 30, 2006 at the Gallant Funeral Home 10 Elm Street Waterville, Maine. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday January 31, 2006 at 9 A.M. at Notre Dame Church 112 Silver Street Waterville, Maine. Burial will be in the spring in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville, Maine. Attendees are invited to the home of Drs. Lisa and Ronnie Marrache at 109 Silver Street Waterville, Maine following the funeral service. Amelia was always proud of her Catholic education by the Ursuline sisters.
