Adelbert William Fecteau Obituary (1925 - 2006)

Winslow, Maine Adelbert ''Max'' William Fecteau, 81, died late Monday evening at the Veterans Administration Center at Togus, Maine after a long illness. He was born in Winslow, Maine the son of Gideon and Annie Dostie Fecteau. He was educated in Winslow schools and had attended Winslow High School. He was a WW II U.S. Army veteran having served in the Philippines with the 738th Battalion with the rank of sargeant. He was formerly employed by Central Maine Power Company for 30 years on the rigging crew at various power substations. He enjoyed doing repairs around the house as well as electrical repairs and loved working on clocks. He loved fishing, hunting and snowmobiling and was noted to have the first snowmobile in Winslow in 1965. He was a member of the Bourque-Lanigan Post # 5 American Legion, a life-member of 55 years of the MacCrillis-Rousseau Post # 8835, and a life-member of the Disabled American Veterans Post # 1 of Togus. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow. He was a good and loving husband of 56 years of marriage to his wife,Laurianne Labbe Fecteau of Winslow and a loving father to his children, Caroline Bernier and her husband Stephen and their son who was a special grandson, Lyle Bernier all of Winslow and Lee W. Fecteau and his wife Ghislaine of China, Maine. He is also survived by 3 step-children, Paul Veilleux of Winslow, Louise Clarke of Hooksett, New Hampshire and Lise Theriault of Winslow; by his brother, Aurele Fecteau and his wife Jeanne of Waterville and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Genoria Maddle and a brother-in-law, Lee Maddle. The family would like to thank Drs. Jones and Shapley and the nurses on 3-North at the Veterans Administration Center for the help and assistance. At his request, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service with military honors will be held Friday September 8, 2006 at 12 noon at the new Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, Maine.
